Ana Clara Alves de Oliveira

 

 

Dr. Ana Clara Alves is a Visual and Cultural Anthropologist, currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair for Economic, Social, and Environmental History at the University of Freiburg. Additionally, she is a Teaching Fellow at University College Freiburg where she offers courses on environment, ethnography, and visual culture. Her current research focuses on cultures of extractivism, particularly on the history of mining industry in Minas Gerais, Brazil, and its connection with German companies. She investigates how mineral extraction in the region has been shaped by predatory colonial practices and are entangled in transnational trade networks. She completed her doctoral studies in Cultural Anthropology in 2024 as part of a cotutelle agreement between the Universidade Federal Fluminense (Brazil) and the University of Tübingen (Germany).
